COMSEC Custodian Training Course
The IAEC-2112 COMSEC Custodian Training Class is mandatory for all COMSEC Custodians and Alternates that are appointed to Traditional COMSEC Accounts controlled by the National Security Agency (NSA) Central Office of Record (COR). Any exceptions to the mandatory requirement are identified below.
Enrollment Process
Individuals requiring this training "must be appointed by NSA" as a Custodian or Alternate prior to enrollment in the class. Once approved by NSA, a letter will be mailed to each individual acknowledging the appointment. The letter will also advise the individual to enroll in the class using the website. Please do not enroll in the class until you have been notified to do so.
Priorities for this training will be given to those COMSEC Accounts that fall under the control of the NSA COR. Other individuals wishing to attend are welcome, but seating is limited.
All IAEC-2112 students must be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, the class must be taken within six months of the individual's appointment date as either Custodian or Alternate Custodian. Failure to do so may result in suspension of the COMSEC Account.
Exceptions to Mandatory Training
Although it is highly recommended, this class is not mandatory for COMSEC custodial personnel in the following categories:
- Appointed prior to January 1986.
- Appointed to a Seed Key Only COMSEC Account (SOCA).
- Appointed to an Unclassified Account.
- Appointed as the FSO of any Account.
